Programme of Events
For WGC members
Weather permitting, our postponed walk around Little Germany, Bradford, will take place on Saturday afternoon 18th April. You may remember we intended to do it after my presentation about Bradford’s Germans last autumn. Please let us know if you’d like to go on this walk by replying to this email before 14th April.
We will meet at the statue of William Forster at 2.10pm. This is near the entrance/exit of the Broadway shopping centre that is at the junction of Well Street and Church Bank (Church Bank goes up to the Cathedral). This is the corner where Little Germany begins.
If you are coming by train from the Ilkley direction, there is a train that gets into Bradford Forster Square Station at 13.53.
Please note that the walk will be just over a mile in length and that some of the streets in Little Germany are quite hilly, but we will be taking it slowly and there will be frequent stops for me to tell you about the buildings. I expect it might take up to two hours. Please wear comfortable shoes and watch for traffic, as, unlike most of the other streets in central Bradford that are now pedestrianised, those in Little Germany are not. There are no toilets or cafes in Little Germany, so use the loos in the Broadway Centre beforehand, if necessary!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Marilyn
