Programme of Events
A monthly meet and speak for those wanting to practice them by speaking to other people. Every 2nd Wednesday of the month!
Come along for as much or as little time as you like! All languages welcome.
How it works
When you arrive, tell the person on the door which language you'd like to practice/speak and you'll be directed to a table with other people speaking that language. You're welcome to bring a friend to practice with or come on your own. The point is to have fun and practice speaking.
What if nobody speaks the language I want to practice?
Unfortunately we can't guarantee a particular language will be spoken but we do have regular speakers of many different languages and we always try to pair you with someone.
When you sign up we will ask you which language(s) you want to practice so we can ask for other speakers of that language to attend or you're welcome to put a shout out on social media. Arranging to come with a friend is a good way to commit to your language practice.
If there is nobody who speaks your target language, you're welcome to join others to listen and learn from them or to share your language with anyone who wants to learn.
What does it cost?
This is a volunteer run project, however we do have to cover the cost of staffing the bar so we ask for a small donation of £2. Any additional money raised will be donated to Leeds Asylum Seekers Support Network (LASSN) to pay for bus fares for refugees and asylum seekers.
Where can I find out more?
We have a Facebook group where you can ask questions and share language learning tips.
